Practice with Rhyming Words (& Word Families)
Looking for a way to practice rhyming words before using paper and pencil?
Put your students in small groups. Give each group a word family at the top of a piece of paper. For example, one group might be given -at while another is give -ake. Children will work to make a list of all of the words they can name in that word family.
About These Rhyming Word Cut and Paste Worksheets
This set contains 28 pages where students will work on matching word family words.
These pages might fit into your kindergarten, first grade or even second grade word work practice.
There are a range of pages for different levels of need. Some require students to cut and paste the pictures to match without the words given. Others have just a word on one part and a picture to match. In case children are having trouble identifying the pictures, I have also created one set where the word is included on every picture.
Make sure you choose the just right pages for your students in order to provide meaningful practice that does not lead to frustration.
I know there are many children who enjoy the activity of cutting and pasting. Plus, it is a great way to work on fine motor skills while getting phonics practice!
The engagement piece can be especially helpful during a time of distance learning! Parents will appreciate the little extra these pages provide.
