How will you begin working on letters with students?
When you are ready to introduce a new focus letter, be sure to think of hands-on acitivites.
You might have them begin by tracing the letter in shaving cream or sand.
Maybe you could pull out your bucket of LEGOs. Have children work to build the uppercase and lowercase versions of each letter using the blocks. This would make a great center activity that doesn’t require much prep time.
You might also have children search the room for your current focus letter. They would look around for anything that contains the letter a in print.
You could also do a hunt for objects that start with the letter a.
