Fry Fluency Sentences – 3rd 100

These free Fry fluency sentences #3 for the 3rd 100 words will help your children work on fluency plus the third set of Fry words.

This is another free resource for teachers and families from www.freewordwork.com.

These Fry fluency sentences #3 are a new addition to our collection of free fluency sentences.

This collection is designed to help children work on the third 100 Fry words plus fluency.

The sentences contain first 300 words plus other small words to help create meaningful sentences. Whenever possible, I tried to choose CVC words that can easily be sounded out.

There is an emphasis on the third 100 words.

Why Focus on Fluency?

When children are reading fluently, they are reading smoothly. Their reading might sound more like speaking.

Being able to read fluently is important because it helps with comprehension.

Reading fluently can make what is being read easier to understand.

For this reason, fluency is an important piece of reading instruction.

What are Fry Words

If you are new to reading instruction, begin here.

Fry words are a set of sight words. They are divided into ten lists. Each list has 100 words.

Children begin with this first list that contains the 100 most common words in the English language. Often kindergarten and first grade teachers work on the first list.

Third grade classrooms will many times focus on the 3rd set of Fry words.

Many teachers choose to work on sight words because they are an important beginning point for reading.

Many sight words are words that are needed to build a base of words for reading.

As you move farther through the word lists, children will encounter more nouns and words that they will be able to link with a visual.

These Fry Fluency Sentences – 3rd 100 Words

This collection of sentences will help your children practice the third set of Fry words.

The words are divided into groups of ten. I have added a label on each page so you can easily identify the group of words being practiced.

There are three formats provided for each group of ten words.

First, children will have a checklist of the sentences. They can practice the sentences and check each box when they are able to read the sentence fluently.

As an extension, you can have children underline the Fry words in each sentence.

Next, you will find a grid where students can illustrate each sentence.

Finally, there are a set of cards. You can print these on cardstock and laminate for durability. You can hole punch and place on a ring or put into a baggie. These can be an option for students to work on during independent reading.
