Grab these free, printable CVCe cut and paste worksheets for more phonics practice for your students and children. These pages include pictures along to help students match words with meaning.
If you are looking to help your own child and new to phonics instruction, you might start with this CVC Cut & Paste before trying the CVCe Cut & Paste found in this post.
For those just beginning, CVCe words will have a consonant, vowel, consonant and then a silent e. The e will make the first vowel say its name. These are sometimes referred to as magic e words. These will be one syllable words with a long vowel sound in the middle.
Looking for a way to practice these CVCe words before using paper and pencil? You might start by encouraging your children to go on a word hunt around the room.
During a class meeting, work to make a list of all of the CVCe words or objects you can find inside your classroom.
This can also be done at home! During your next Zoom meeting, do a Zoom Around the Room game where you ask each child to find an object that is a CVC word.
Another idea is to give a child a CVC word, ask them to add a letter to create a different word. For example, you could say cap and the child could change the word to cape. The word cub could become cube. Kit could become kite.
This set contains 26 pages where students will work on completing CVCe words.
These pages might fit into your kindergarten, first grade or even second grade word work practice.
There are a range of pages for different levels of need. Some require students to cut and paste the letters of each word. Students can also practice CVCe words by cutting and pasting the missing vowel. Finally, there are options for cutting and pasting the picture to match the word given.
As always, you will want to choose the just right pages for your students. You want to provide work that makes your students think without causing frustration.
