Christmas Cut-Up Sentences

These Christmas cut-up sentences offer a fun way to practice literacy skills with a Christmas theme.

This is another free resource for teachers and families from www.freewordwork.com.

Try this set of Christmas cut-up sentences as a literacy center during the holiday season.

If you teach at a public school, the Gingerbread Cut-Up Sentences I created will be a better fit for your classroom. I created this Christmas themed set for families and teachers at private schools.

I will be creating a collection of Christmas resources for homeschool parents and those in private schools. None of these resources will have a religious aspect.

Again, you will find similar resources on the site with a gingerbread theme that will be perfect for something fun during December in a public school setting.

Using these Christmas Cut-Up Sentences

Children love these worksheets! They seem like such a simple task and they are very easy for the teacher to get started.

There are many benefits to these worksheets – best of all, they are engaging for children.

These pages provide fine motor practice. Children practice cutting, gluing and drawing while completing the work.

Also, they give children literacy practice. Children work on reading words and unscrambling to create a sentence. Next, they can practice fluency by reading over and over.

Supplies Needed

To complete these worksheets, children will need these basic supplies:

  • scissors
  • glue
  • crayons or colored pencils

Children will complete these pages by first cutting out the words. Next, they will unscramble the words in order to create a meaningful sentence.

They will then glue the words in place. Finally, they will draw a picture to show the meaning of the sentence.

If you are feeling festive, you might even add a little glitter to the supplies – or maybe some glitter pens to eliminate some of the mess.

  • I downloaded these Christmas themed activities for my son with special needs to have something different and fun to do, hoping they would be something he could do independently. He did GREAT and enjoyed worksheets for one of the first times ever! Thank you for helping us have a pleasant transition into the holiday break.
