If you do not know, beginning digraph words start with two letters that make a new sound. The words in these pages start with ch, sh, ph, th, wh or wr.

Practice with Beginning Digraph Words

Looking for a way to practice these beginning digraph words before using paper and pencil? You might start by encouraging your children to go on a word hunt in a favorite book.

Each child can pick a favorite story and you can make a list of the words you find. For a challenge, students can also search for words with digraphs in the middle or the end of words.

This will be an easy activity to add to a phonics lesson during a virtual class meetings.
