What are CVCe Words?
If you are new to phonics instruction, start here! If you already know the basics, scroll to the bottom to download your free booklets.
CVCe stands for consonant vowel consonant followed by an e. These are four letter words. They will have a long vowel sound in the middle.
The magic e or bossy e at the end of the word makes the vowel at the beginning of the word say its name.
This specific set of books includes a mixture of vowel sounds.
About these CVCe Phonics Booklets
These mini booklets contain beginning sight words along with magic e words. The result is simple, repetitive texts that are good for beginning readers.
Along with the simple sentences at the top, children will find illustrations for coloring.
At the bottom of each page, there are directions to encourage children to process and interact with the text.
Students will color the picture and then circle the CVCe words they find while reading.
These extra steps will help children work on following directions and comprehending what is being read.
